How to Change your Email Address for WordPress: An Easy Guide

The Admin Email Address for WordPress is more important than many site owners users realize. Not only does it enable you to keep track of important notifications, but the WordPress admin email is also required for other security-related purposes, including changing the password. If you suspect that your current email address might not be as secure as you thought, then you need to take steps to rectify this. One easy way of doing so is changing the admin email address entirely. It is very easy to do once you see how and can save you a lot of trouble. In this article, we are going to show you how to change your email for WordPress using two different methods.
1. How to Change your Email for WordPress Using WordPress Settings
First of all, you will need to go to Settings>>General through your Admin Sidebar. Here, look for the Email Address option under the General Settings. Simply enter the email you want in the bar there. Now scroll down and click on Save Changes.
This will send an email to your new address asking you for confirmation. Once you do that, your new email address will become active. Now your moderation related emails, alongside other important messages will be sent to your new address.
Then, to change the email address of the various users, you will need to go to Users>>All Users through the Sidebar. Now look for the user whose account requires changing from the list. Just hover your mouse over the one you want and click on Edit.
In this page, scroll down to find the section titled Contact Info. Now all you need to do is enter your Email in its field then scroll down and click on Update Profile. Like before, you will need to confirm the email before it becomes active.
2. How to Change your Email for WordPress Using phpMyAdmin
The second method of doing so is using phpMyAdmin. To access phpMyAdmin, you can simply open up your cPanel and look for it under the Databases section.
Here, search for _options towards the right and open it. Once you do that, search for admin_email and click on Edit.
Now enter the email address that you want in the dialog box and then click on Go.
Once that is done, go back and search the left part of the screen for _users and open it. Now you should be able to find the correct user on the right. Click on Edit once you do that.
In the next page, all you need to do is enter your new email address under the user_email field and click on Go.
Wrapping it Up:
