While creating a WordPress website, it is important that you follow each and every step properly in order to create the website that you want. Although you find tutorials to help you guide you through the whole step-by step process of building a WordPress website, I have often found people confused and having difficulty in the installation process.
So, we have prepared a very thorough guide to help you all with your dilemma. Just follow each step and in no time, own your very own WordPress website!
Keep In Mind!
Before installation, be sure to get yourself a domain name for your website. You can buy one that is suitable for your website from the domain name providers online. GoDaddy and NameCheap are such providers where you can easily find yourself a domain name. Get a WordPress hosting for your website. Find the best hosting service that suits your website’s needs. You can choose from several web hosting companies who offer you different hosting plans.
Installing WordPress
Installing WordPress is one of the most important yet confusing parts as it required careful observation and technical knowledge to some extent. But that is no more a problem because most of the renowned WordPress hosting now offer the one-click WordPress installation which eases up the process. Thus, it’s now just a matter of minutes while the installation is complete.
Using hosting services makes the complicated part a piece of cake.
You can sign up for your hosting service, here, for example, SiteGround. To get WordPress pre-installed on your hosting, you first need to access the customer area.
Step-by-Step guide to install WordPress using SiteGround
After logging in to your SiteGround Hosting, a pop-up will appear in front of your screen welcoming you to the setup wizard.
There you will see options that you can click on. Select the option for “Get WordPress pre-installed on this account” and click Proceed. You will now enter the setup page where you need to input your login information required for your WordPress backend.
After logging in, you can now choose a theme for your WordPress and click “Submit”. You can change this whenever and wherever you wish to. WordPress is now installed on your computer and you are ready!
If you are using the hosting other than SIteGround, check for the integrated one-click WordPress installation. If they have it, you can check the tutorials their sites provide for the process. But don’t worry if you don’t, because the process is most likely the same. Most of the hosting installation process is the same so you can use this guide to help you out.
If you find that there is no one-click WordPress Installer, then you do not have to fret. Because you can also install WordPress manually using FTP. Follow the guide below for easier process.
Step-by-Step Guide to install WordPress manually
The first process of installing WordPress is to download it. You can download WordPress from its official download page. Be sure to always download the latest and stable version of it. Locate and extract the files from your hard-disc to a new folder.
You now need to upload the files and folders to your web server. You can use the files through FTP using a client application like- Filezilla or cPanel.
After uploading, you will need to create a MySQL database. If your host uses cPanel, then you can find the Database section and select MySQL Databases. You can then just create a new database.
Once you create the database, you need to create a user for it. You can create a new user in the MySQL database setting option.
Make sure that you write down the database name, username and password after adding the user. Now the next step, navigate to your website to start the installation. Choose your preferred browser to navigate to your domain name, for eg. yourwebsite.com/blog in which you previously uploaded your WordPress files.
Choose your language, enter your details i.e. database name, username, password, database host, and table prefix. Run the install and finish the installation process adding in your information i.e. SIte Title, Username, Password and your email.
Wrapping Up
Although installing WordPress manually seems like a hassle, you will find it easier once you get the hang of it. Be sure to follow each step carefully and you will have WordPress installed on your computer in no time! Whether you decide to get the host that will pre install WordPress or you want to install it manually, I hope this article helps!
